FILTER

FILTER is an instigator of dialogues on dance which interrogate and illuminate contemporary issues in art, science, technology, gender and society through a series of interactive conferences. Formats such as expert meetings, residencies, Instagram live sessions, conference and exhibitions are tailored to meet the requirements of individual projects. We delve into the innovation of disclosure methods, examining the evolving approaches to the dissemination of information in the digital era.
In these talks Indian dance becomes a tool for discussing universal themes, relating to other disciplines through the contribution of speakers from different fields, both humanistic and scientic. Some Conversation also entails the active participation of the audience through short experiential sessions. Our mission is to create meaningful exchanges on artistic research and production methods, and sharing one’s personal and artistic journey.
From 2023 to 2024 we hosted a series of live sessions on our Instagram page on the following topics: body, tradition, identity, convention and betrayal.
In May 2024 Dance In-It organized an interdisciplinary conference named The Indian Classical Dance-Theatre as a Shared Mind – Indian Performing Arts in Conversation with Cognitive Science, with the collaboration of Dr. Gabriele Sofia, Professor at Roma Tre University. The event took place within ‘Aria’ Contemporary Theatre Festival of University of L’Aquila, in collaboration with Roma Tre University.
We hope FILTER continues to inspire dancers, artists and researchers to carry on the discussions opened up over these two years.
